California Masonry Council

Scholarship Pre-Requisites: Students who attend at least 3 of the 5 Masonry Week sessions will be eligible to participate in our scholarship program, with a chance to be awarded one of the 5 available $1,500 scholarships.

After Masonry Week you will be asked to submit a short essay of your learnings and comments. A committee will vote on the best essays of qualifying students.

TUESDAY – 9/15 – 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Design-Build; Case Study: A design-build approach to the award-winning “LeParc” tower in San Diego, a 31,073-square-foot multifamily development that reinvents the art of the possible in masonry design. Beyond exceptional Architecture; the General Contractor / Developer / Architect’s innovative and disruptive solution to cost, schedule, energy efficiency, resiliency, and design.

WEDNESDAY – 9/16 – 6:30 to 7:30 PM
"New Research: The Embodied Carbon of Concrete Masonry". This presentation features recent research on concrete masonry unit's (CMU) low embodied carbon and sequestration. Attendees will explore how design choices affect carbon intensity of CMU assemblies through LCA studies and highlight co-benefits in resiliency, thermal mass, circularity, and manufacturing.
